A Celebration of African Culture

Africana is BCCEEP’s celebration of African history, culture and traditions. It brings the community together through food, music, dance, fashion and storytelling, and has run in different forms since 2020.

Past Editions

Africana 2025 was held on 7 September at the BCCEEP Centre in Windsor.

Africana 2021 ran online over two days, 29 and 30 January, with presentations on African female royalty, spoken word, Black inventors, and Ugandan and Nuer wedding traditions.

Africana 2020 ran online over three days, 23 to 25 October, with cooking classes, drumming, a fashion show, a head-wrap tying demonstration and food delivery from local restaurants.

Countries featured in Africana 2020: Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
